Alan’s mission is to help business owners, entrepreneurs and their families make informed, smart decisions about their assets for security, independence, growth, and inter-generational continuity. He employs a collaborative wealth management process, utilizing a professional network geared to a client’s specific and unique needs, and works closely with his clients’ key legal and tax advisors. Driving his vision is the realization that business owners are confronted with the difficulty of finding and selecting a financial advisor who can provide comprehensive wealth management services. He believes the key elements of true wealth management include:
During his high school years, Alan was a champion swimmer and a second tenor in the choir while working part-time. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school; and during his enlistment, achieved the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class while concurrently working in small local businesses to put himself through college. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in mathematics and was invited to attend the U.S. Navy’s Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, thereafter receiving his commission as an officer of the line. He served on amphibious assault ships in the Pacific Fleet, including the USS Duluth (LPD-6), on which he served as an officer in two Vietnam combat campaigns. Released from active duty after the war, he began his career in the estate planning and life insurance industry with a major insurance company, where he received training in estate and business planning, retirement plans, and investments for business owners. He was drawn to his calling because his father had died suddenly with no will or estate plan while Alan was away on active military duty, leaving him with the responsibility of caring and providing for his mother, which he did for the next 41 years, and because he admired the entrepreneurial spirit of the small business owners for whom he had worked during college.
Alan started his financial services career in 1974 and he holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designations and is a member of the life insurance industry’s Million Dollar Round Table. Alan is married and he and his wife are involved in their community, and their hobbies include classic and vintage cars and travel.
